(nos) – The historical drama “Corsage”, co-produced by the Luxembourg company Samsa Film, is part of the list of the 15 best international films for the next Oscars. This was announced by the Academy of Oscars.
In October, Austria had submitted its film for the foreign Oscars. A shortlist of five shortlisted films is expected to be announced on January 24, 2023. The Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 12, 2023 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
“Corsage” by Marie Kreutzer, in which the Luxembourg actress Vicky Krieps plays the role of the emancipated and insolent Empress Elisabeth, was an international success. Vicky Krieps, who spoke in a interview at Luxemburger Wort of the many challenges that the production involved, was rewarded several times for her performance. At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, she received the award for Best Actress. The film was nominated in the “Un certain regard” section. She was also voted “best actress” at the European Film Awards.
Besides “Corsage”, the German adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque’s anti-war novel “There’s Nothing New in the West” (available on Netflix) is also on the list of foreign Oscar nominees.
