GOLDEN GLOBES – The slap in the face of Will Smith at the Oscars was almost a year ago. And yet the scene continues to hover above all Hollywood ceremonies. This Tuesday, January 10 in California, the 80th edition of Golden Globes marked the start of the 2023 awards season. And the comedian Eddie Murphy couldn’t resist referring to it.

Between the coronation of Steven Spielberg to The Fabelmans and one surprise speech by Volodymyr Zelenskythe hero ofA prince in New York or Beverly Hills Cop received the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award. His trophy handed over to the hands of Tracy Morgan and Jamie Lee Curtis, Eddie Murphy launched into a short but effective speech of thanks.

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time β€œ, evokes the actor recalling his 45 years in show business and cinema. And after the traditional words for his family, his collaborators or his producers, Eddie Murphy took it into his head to reveal his “ very safe plan to achieve success, prosperity, longevity for all young actors and actresses.

This plan, I have followed it all my career and it is very simple. There are three things to do β€œ, he explains. Then he enumerates: Pay your taxes, mind your own business and don’t talk about Will Smith’s wife β€œ, triggering frank and enthusiastic laughter in the room.

As a reminder, Will Smith shocked the whole world last March, slapping comedian Chris Rock on the Oscars stage because of a questionable joke concerning his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss. Banned from the Oscars for 10 years, after having himself resigned from the Academy, the actor has since publicly apologized.

Eddie Murphy has obviously decided it’s time to laugh about it, he who returned to the Golden Globes stage after six nominations in the past, including a victory in 2007 for his role in the musical drama Dreamgirls.
