Oscars 2022: CODA, the remake of The Bélier family, crowned best film

Dunes raffles (almost) everything else.

A scene from the movie CODA -AppleTV+

To everyone’s surprise, it was AppleTV+’s CODA film that won the most prestigious award of the 2022 Oscars evening. It is the American remake of the French film La famille Bélier.

Denis Villeneuve’s film Dune had many nominations during this 94th edition of the Oscars and it won most of the prizes from the “technical” departments for which it was cited. Among them, “Best Soundtrack”, “Best Special Effects”, “Best Art Direction” and “Best Cinematography”. The feature, on the other hand, missed out on “Best Costume” and “Best Makeup and Hairstyle,” which went to Cruella and The Eyes of Tammy Faye, respectively.

Will Smith won the Best Actor Oscar for his role in Kind Richard and just before he took to the stage to punch Chris Rock in the face. All the details of this story here.

On the women’s side, it is Jessica Chastain who wins the honors thanks to her performance in The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
