The Portuguese short film “ THE LONE WOLF by Filipe Melo shortlisted in the race for the Oscars®!

It is with great joy that we announce that the Portuguese short film The Lone Wolf, directed by Filipe Melo and produced by Sandra Faria (Força de Produção), is among the 15 semi-finalist films (short list) in the category of Best Short Fiction at the Oscars®.

This international film is distributed by the distribution company h264, located in Montreal.

The news was revealed Wednesday evening during the unveiling of all the shortlisted films on the Academy’s website. The film is represented by h264, a Quebec distribution box that accompanied the films Wildcat by Jeremy Comte and Daisy by Marianne Farley nominated in the same category in 2019.

The film was screened at a variety of festivals such as Curtas Vila Do Conde, REGARD Festival, Aesthetica International Film Festival and Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF). The film also won Best Short Fiction at the prestigious Sophia Awards ceremony held by the Portuguese Film Academy.

We will know on January 24 if the film will be among the 5 short films officially nominated in the category of Best short fiction film. The 95th Academy Awards® will take place on March 12, 2023.
