They dared: Marvel Studios is campaigning for Thor: Love & Thunder in best film and best special effects at the Oscars 2023 |

A routine habit that will not surprise anyone, but which should nevertheless begin to challenge. Upstream of the pre-selection announcements (or shortlists) for the next Oscars ceremony, all the studios are opening the doors to their campaigns “For Your Consideration“, a form of request for attention from the Academy to include certain productions in the many categories of the award ceremony. On the side of marvel studioswe see every year the multi-millionaire productions being put forward by the giant disney, sometimes with categories that allow us to revive the eternal debates on what constitutes a “real” film – or simply roll our eyes in view of the real quality of the said productions. Also, when we see a Thor: Love & Thunder being pushed for the “Best Film” category, we say to ourselves that there are some who are really not afraid.

The Limits of the Marvel Studios Empire

According to the saying of Kevin Feige who refuses to consider that if his films make millions of admissions, it would be for a factor other than their intrinsic quality, we therefore find the three films of this year (i.e. Doctor Strange: in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love & Thunder as well as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) in the countryside “For your considerationfor the 2023 Oscars. Each of the films is placed for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress, as well as Best Cinematography, Best Adapted Screenplay and various people appear in Best Male and Female Supporting Roles. obviously add all the more technical categories (best editing, best costumes and makeup, best soundtrack, or best special effects).

If there is no doubt that some of the films of marvel studios can win a few technical Oscars, it makes you wonder if the efforts (or rather, the forcing) in the categories of “best film” or “best director” are not made on purpose to give a form of buzz to be fed, both by the media antennas (including ours) and the social networks. The very case of the controversy surrounding the management of special effects artists at marvel studios – or the video mocking visuals of Thor: Love & Thunder by Taika Waititi – would have suggested that decency would simply not push the film in question into this category. Still, the approach is obviously nothing abnormal, but inevitably appears more laughable this year after the latest news surrounding the American giant – until the recent return of Bob Iger to replace a Bob Chapek which was obviously disappointed. To see now if the campaign will give rise to some pre-selections; technically, it must be recognized thatAngela Bassett deserves a little something for his performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. But for the rest, we let you share your opinions with us…
