One more year has passed, and still a lot of celebrity deaths. We talked a lot about those of Elisabeth II, Gaspard Ulliel, Igor Bogdanoff, Jean-Pierre Pernaut, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Mikhaïl Gorbachev, Coolio or even that good old Robbie Coltrane aka Hagrid, but others are a little past out in the media. We haven’t talked about it enough, and that’s a shame. This end of the year is an opportunity to fix that by paying tribute to those who left us too discreetly. Don’t worry, we’ll still have a little laugh. Look: shoot my finger. Here we go.
Sidney Poitier (January 6, 2022)
No, Sidney Poitier is neither the inventor of Sidney nor of Poitiers, but he did even better: the gentleman is nothing less than the first black man to have become a Hollywood star and to have obtained the Oscar for best actor. The class. He died of a heart attack in his big house in Los Angeles at the age of 94, so we can talk about a nice life course. Well done Sydney.
Lucienne Moreau (January 16, 2022)
those who watched The small newspaper and even Greenland know Lucienne, who played “funny old woman” roles and did it very well. Hearing an old woman say vulgar and absurd things is like farting, it always makes you laugh. Unfortunately, old people are always the same thing: after a while, they die. Farewell Lucia.
Arno (April 23, 2022)
The Belgian singer with the rocky voice and the depressing lyrics was a true rock poet never completely in the light, but always present in the musical landscape. If you have never listened to one of these titles (I forgive you), you have the choice between its English rock periods or French songs. Whatever happens is only good. Ah yes, and regarding his death, sadly, no surprises here: the guy had been suffering from pancreatic cancer — one of the deadliest — since 2019. Life female dog.
Vangelis (May 17, 2022)
I must confess to you with great dismay: I myself learned of the death of Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou while making this top. resound in me Chariots of Fire and that good old Conquest of Paradise…the only two Vangelis titles that I know of. But what titles.
Ray Liotta (May 26, 2022)
Ray Liotta is one of the most memorable faces in cinema, and one of the best actors we were lucky enough to have. He notably burst the screen in Freedmen (in the literal sense of course otherwise all the cinemas in the world would have filed a complaint), my favorite Scorsese film. But the stars also eventually go out, and Ray died in his sleep at the age of 67. It’s not super gangster, but that’s how it is.
Angela Lansbury (October 11, 2022)
The only place I saw Angela Lansbury when I was little was on my grandmother’s TV which was part of the target audience ofArabesque, this series for old. In the series, Angela played Jessica Fletcher, a granny who played amateur sleuths because she was pissed off during her retirement as an English teacher. Good after, Angela Landsbury really had a big career with great roles, Oscars and Golden Globes full of the shelf, but we will remember above all Arabesque.
Pierre Soulages (October 25, 2022)
Well, basically, Pierre Soulages, he painted things in black. Ok, that’s a bit simplistic, but that’s what he’s best known for. There you go. You will notice my lack of interest in this career. Maybe that’s why we didn’t talk about it too much in the media after all.
Jerry Lee Lewis (October 28, 2022)
The guy was one of the first rock singers and we called him “the Killer”, isn’t that too classy? Yeah, I’m talking about a real music legend, but for some totally bizarre reason, we hardly talked about him on TV or in the magazines when he died. Are these people crazy or what? Anyway, know that Jerry died of natural causes at the age of 87. For your culture.
Aaron Carter (November 5, 2022)
I’m ashamed to tell you, but the first two records I bought with my pocket money were a Mano Negra best of and Aaron Carter’s first album. The guy was a kind of Justin Bieber before his time, and incidentally the brother of Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys. Unfortunately, he will never have his brother’s career and will plunge into drugs seasoned with mental illness. He was found drowned in his bathtub at the age of 34. Only.
Patrick Tambay (December 4, 2022)
F1 driver in the 70s and 80s, Patrick Tambay took part in a hundred Grands Prix. Sadly, I can’t sack F1 so I won’t comment on his performance, but all the fans must have regretted that he didn’t make the headlines. Well, I believe. In the meantime I haven’t even found it in the greatest French Formula 1 drivers. It’s stupid.
