A Plague Tale: Requiem – why it’s more than ever a very big expectation of 2022

A Plague Tale: Requiem delivered a gameplay trailer to the Xbox Showcase. It’s already one of the most exciting games of 2022.

He was one of the sensations of the year 2019. A Plague Tale: Innocence won over audiences and critics alike with his drummed-up storytelling beating, and thanks to his high-flying achievement for an independent title. Set in 1348, the moving story of A Plague Tale starred Amicia de Rune, just 15 years old, and her younger brother, Hugo, 5 years old. This one is reached by a strange evil which is worth to him to be continued by members of the Inquisition.

After the death of their parents, Hugo and Amicia find themselves on the run through the south-west of the Kingdom of France, while the country is in the grip of a terrifying epidemic of the Black Death, symbolized in game by waves of rats which decimate everything in their path. Latmosphere at Asobo after the success of A Plague Tale: Innocence

The public was not mistaken since in March 2021, the Asobo studio announced that it had sold more than a million copies of its little video game gem. It is therefore quite natural that a sequel was started by the Bordelais and their publisher Focus Entertainment. If the first part was shrouded in a heavy and dark atmosphereA Plague Tale: Requiem promises to be even more funereal. Subtitle The End Of Innocencethis second installment will put players back in control of Amicia, for an ever more dangerous journey.

More mature, more mature, more brutal, Requiem wants to be even more radical than its elder. The first gameplay footage leaked during the Xbox Game Showcase shows a hard-faced Amicia with a determined, cold gaze, and an ever-increasingly gnawing evil Hugo. Innocence is now totally lost: Amicia is partially dressed in armor, and no longer hesitates to use violence. She even now finds herself armed with a crossbow, in order to eliminate any threat before she even gets close.

The few gameplay sequences revealed leave no doubt as to the graphic quality of the title, which looks splendid. Rat waves are terrifyingly realistic, and the sets are much more believable than in the first opus. These decorations will moreover be much more varied than in Innocence. The infiltration phases will always be part of the game, with a larger panel of problem resolutions. Frontal combat or stealth, the decisions should also have an impact on the heroes.

Asobo developers (Microsoft Flight Simulator) said they took particular care to articulate narrative and exploration/combat phases so that they respond to each other, in order to produce a perfectly balanced title between these two counterparts.
