FANS of TV hit Brassic have gotten a taste of the upcoming series – after the cast were caught filming scenes on Google Street View.
The BAFTA-nominated comedy drama Sky Max, starring Michelle Keegan, has been filming in parts of Manchester for the past few weeks as the series enters its fifth season.
Actor Tom Hanson revealed that the cast and crew were in the middle of a residential road – with one side isolated from the public – when a Google Street View car drove by.
They were captured jumping and waving to the camera as work on set was briefly interrupted.
Posting the footage on Twitter, Tom, who plays Cardi, said: “So we were filming Brassic a few weeks ago and a Google car drove by.
“We were all incredibly excited.
“I just checked and we are now on Street View!”
More than 40 cast and crew members were filmed watching the vehicle pass on Whalley Road near Moss Side – some waving happily.
Cameraman Marc Tempest, best known for his work on the set of Hollywood film World War Z, tweeted: “This is awesome. Look how dazed we all are.
Director Ruth Carney commented: “It’s hysterical.”
Traffic cones can be seen along one side of the sidewalk, but vehicles were able to pass.
The Google car captured a red and blue van previously featured on Brassic.
Fan Simon Thomson posted: “Love this! The Brassic wagon is captured for posterity.
“Possibly one of the best Street View captures ever!!!”
The preview of series five delighted the lovers of the series.
One man said, “As if you weren’t famous enough…back home anyway.”
“I can’t wait to see the new season.”
An eagle-eyed fan pointed out that Brassic had already been captured on Google Street View while filming series 4 in Bacup, Lancs.
Sharing photos, he said: “It’s awesome. They also had you while filming the Bacup scene where Michelle Keegan was dressed as a lollipop lady in Brassic Series 4.”
Actor Tom spoke of his shock, responding, “No way!”
Road closure signs had been put up near The British Queen pub, but a Google Street Car captured a sneaky photo of the street turning at a junction.
Brassic follows Vinnie O’Neill, played by Joe Gilgun, and his five friends who struggle to get by in the fictional town of Hawley and resort to petty crime for money.
Corrie star Keegan, who plays Erin Croft, has been spotted filming scenes from Season 5 in Manchester city center in recent weeks.
The series debuted in 2019 and won numerous awards, including Best Comedy from TV Choice.
The new season will air later next year.
