Lumières 2022: Lost Illusions leads the nominations ahead of Titanium

Awards season is about to begin! And like every year, it is the Académie des Lumières which first delivers its nominees among the French films released in 2021.

Balzac’s adaptation by Xavier Giannoli, Lost Illusions, leads the race with 5 citations. This is followed by Annette by Leos Carax, L’Événement by Audrey Diwan and Onoda, 10,000 Nights in the Jungle by Arthur Harari, all of which received 4 nominations.

Shocking work of the year, Titanium by Julia Ducournau (French candidate for the Oscars) will compete for 3 prizes but not in the main categories. Actors Vincent Lindon and Agathe Rousselle as well as composer Jim Williams received citations.

95 correspondents from the international press now have the heavy task of deciding between the contenders, which could be found in the nominations for the César 2022 (unveiled on January 26).
