Time is running out to enter the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year competition, the world’s biggest award for food photography and film. The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, February 5, 2023.
One of the most beloved aspects of the contest is the diversity and breadth of photography and food film it celebrates across more than 20 categories. New this year is the Pink Lady® Moments of Joy category. This category is for images that show the joy felt through food, whether it’s growing, preparing and cooking, or serving and eating food. The winner of the Pink Lady® Moments of Joy category will take home £1,500.
Another new feature this year is the return of the famous Champagne Taittinger reception. This reception will take place in a new place: the famous BAFTA, Piccadilly, in London, in May. The finalists will join the judges and the press for the exclusive online screening of the awards film. After the announcement, all finalists will have their images exhibited at the prestigious Royal Photographic Society.
This year’s international jury, chaired by legendary food photographer David Loftus, includes Ella Ravilious, curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Nik Sharma, cookbook author, photographer and columnist, Claire Rees, director of photography at the Bafta, Phillip Prodger, executive director of curatorial exhibitions in Los Angeles and former head of photographs at the National Portrait Gallery in London, and Rein Skullerud, head of the World Food Programme’s photography unit.
Media coverage of the awards continues to grow worldwide. To date, last year’s photographs have been featured in over 400 articles in print, digital media, radio and television in over 50 countries: from the BBC, The Times, Forbes, National Geographic and MSN, Corriere della Sera, CNN, China Daily, Tatler and El Mundo. Additionally, the winning photographers were interviewed on the world’s largest radio station, BBC World Service, and on one of America’s largest news television programs, CBS Saturday Morning.
