The 2022 selection revolves around themes representative of the diversity and vitality of French-speaking cinema; to discover it in pictures, it’s here!

French and supercharged / French and Furious, a selection of films which dynamites the young auteur cinema

Intrepid Youth / Bold Youth : views on the unconditional energy of youth

Disrupted Identities / Troubled Identities : when the quest for meaning begins with a quest for oneself

Cinema of desire / A Cinema of Desire : offers an overview of awakening to love, desire and sensuality

Stories of the night / Night tales is interested in what we become from dusk to dawn

In time or in space Travel Travel will be the opportunity to discover new horizons

This year, Kids Corner brings together four youthful animated short films without words, directed by young and very promising filmmakers who have just graduated from school

The films will be available from January 14 on the platform MyFrenchFilmFestival.com and on more than seventy partner platforms worldwide. Short films will be offered free of charge for the whole world, and feature films available individually for € 1.99 (or € 7.99 per pack). Short and long will be available there free of charge from Africa, Latin America, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Poland, Romania and Russia / CIS.

The International Jury 2022:

  • Michelle Couttolenc: Passionate about sound and cinema since she was 14, Michelle Couttolenc is a sound mixer. She studied sound in France, specializing in sound mixing, in order to be able to intensify the emotion of the spectator. His career includes more than 100 films, among which: Pan’s Labyrinth, Güeros, Silent Light, I am no longer there. She has won the award for best Mexican sound 6 times, and in April 2021, she won the Oscar®️, BAFTA, CAS y AMPS for the film Sound of Metal. When she’s not in the mixing room, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, and eating desserts.

  • Joachim Lafosse : Joachim Lafosse was born in 1975 in Brussels. A graduate of IAD, he directed his first feature film in 2003, Private Madness (in competition at Locarno). In 2006, he made It makes you happy (in competition at Locarno) and Naked property with Isabelle Huppert (in competition in Venice). In 2007, he made Free student (Directors’ Fortnight). Joachim Lafosse’s reputation grew from film to film, as evidenced by the national and international fame of to lose reason (presented at Un certain regard and winner of the interpretation prize for Émilie Dequenne). In 2015, he directs The White Knights with Vincent Lindon, Valérie Donzelli, Louise Bourgoin, Reda Kateb, presented in Toronto – 2015 (Best Director Award).   • Filippo Meneghetti : Originally from Padova in Italy, Filippo Meneghetti had his first experiences working in the independent cinema circuit in New York. After studying cinema and then anthropology in Rome, he worked as a first assistant. He then moves on to directing with the short films Undici (in co-production with Piero Tomaselli), Intruder and The beast, selected and awarded in dozens of international festivals. In 2019, he directed his first feature film, Of them, which after its premiere at TIFF, has been noticed in more than eighty festivals around the world and sold in thirty countries. Of them has received more than twenty-five awards in France and internationally, including the César for best first film and two Lumière awards (best first film and best actress). The film was nominated at the Golden Globes as best foreign film and was chosen by France as candidate for the Oscars 2021. Since 2013, Filippo lives and works in France.

  • Santiago Miter : Santiago Miter was born in Buenos Aires in 1980. After studying cinema, he began his career as a director in 2004, as co-writer and co-director. In 2011, he directed his first feature film El Estudiante (The Student) which won the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival. His second feature film Paulina was selected at the Semaine de la Critique – Cannes where he won the Grand Prix and the FIPRESCI prize. the President (La Cordillera), his third feature film, premiered in Un Certain Regard in 2017, and was a box office success in Argentina. In 2021, he shoots his first non-Argentinian film, Little Flower, in several places in France, with a distribution mixing Argentinian and French actors. He is currently in post-production of 1985, Argentina, a historical film about the biggest trial in Argentine history, starring Ricardo Darín, and produced by Amazon Studio.

  • Daphne Patakia: Daphné Patakia is a Belgian-Greek actress. She grew up in Brussels in Belgium, then studied acting at the National Theater of Greece in Athens, from which she graduated in 2013. She then played in
    several Greek films and she was rewarded at the Shooting Stars during
    the Berlinale in 2016. The following year, she took the lead role in the film
    by Tony Gatlif Jam, presented in Official Selection at the Cannes International Film Festival. In 2018, she shoots for Yorgos Lanthimos in the short film Nimic with Matt Dillon. A year later, she stars in the series UFO (s) with Melvil Poupaud. In 2021, Daphné Patakia is in Competition at the Festival de
    Cannes with Benedetta by Paul Verhoeven alongside Virginie Efira.
