Prime Video announces the release date for the series today The town of Three Pines, written for Amazon Original and adapted from the novels by Louise Penny, which have made it to the bestselling books list of the New York Times. The first two episodes will be shown on December 2 exclusively on Prime Video in Canada, US, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Greenland. Thereafter, two new episodes will be released weekly until the grand finale on December 23.

The eight one-hour episodes follow Chief Inspector Armand Gamache (Alfred Molina) as he investigates cases that disturb the seemingly idyllic setting of the small village of Three Pines, Quebec. It is at the cost of a confrontation with his own demons that he will end up discovering long-buried secrets.

Gifted with a sense of deduction matched only by his empathy, Chief Inspector Gamache is tasked with solving a number of disturbing and mysterious crimes in the strange but fascinating village of Three Pines. Supported by a seasoned team – Jean-Guy Beauvoir (Rossif Sutherland), combative and tormented sergeant, Isabelle Lacoste (She-Máijá Tailfeathers), a brilliant sergeant and mother, and Constable Yvette Nichol (Sarah Booth), a rather blundering recruit – Gamache was first received with suspicion by the inhabitants of the village. Despite a chilly reception, he can’t help but feel strangely drawn to this particular place and its eccentric residents, including the bistro’s owners, Gabri (Peter Simpson) and Oliver (Frederic-Antoine Guimond), the artists Peter (Julian Bailey) and Clara (Anna Tierney), the bookseller and fine psychologist Myrna (Tamara Brown), gallery owner Bea (Tantoo Cardinal) and the irascible poetess Ruth (Clare Coulter). The more he investigates the secret life of these people who have taken refuge in Three Pines, the more his morale is affected.

In addition to murder investigations (each story is presented over two episodes), The Village of Three Pines weaves together the threads of a series of dark and mysterious stories that reveal the difficulty of the police in investigating cases of murdered and missing Aboriginal women. Marie France Lambert, Frank Scorpion, Marcel Jeannin, Georgina Lynn Lightning, Crystal Lightning, Isabel Deroy Olson and Anna Lambe complete the cast.

The Village of Three Pines from Amazon Studios is produced by Left Bank Pictures, the production house of Sony Pictures Television (The Crown). Canadian company Muse Entertainment provides production services. The series is executive produced by Andy Harries, Sharon Hughff and John Phillips for Left Bank Pictures. Sam Donovan, Emilia di Girolamo and Alfred Molina also act as executive producers. The series is adapted from the novels by Emilia di Girolamo, head screenwriter, and Catherine Tregenna, who signs two episodes. Produced by John Griffin, it is directed by Sam Donovan (lead director), Mohawk director Tracey Deer and Quebecer Podz (Daniel Grou).

Filmed in Quebec, Montreal and the regions, The Village of Three Pines is a continuation of the investments made by Prime Video in Canada.
