Hoteliers denounce the “unfair competition” of the Airbnb platform, which has recorded a tripling of its reservations.

“Although the vast majority of travelers still choose to stay in Lyon itself, Airbnb observes a dispersion of stays within the municipalities of the Lyon metropolitan area. To date, more than 25% of reservations within the Lyon metropolitan area for these four days have been made outside Lyon, such as Villeurbanne, Caluire-et-Cuire or Oullins – localities allowing to reach the center and its festivities in less than half an hour by transport”, observes the rental platform between individuals.

“In 2021, guests in the Lyon metropolitan area earned around 310 euros by renting their property over this period, i.e. an income twice as high as that achieved in 2019”, adds Airbnb.
