The characteristics of this property are impressive: the Cleuziou manor (13th – late 17th century), located in the open field, in the town of Louargat, has 35 rooms, a living area of 1,600 m2 and more than twenty rooms over an area of seven hectares. Many leisure facilities are also specified: swimming pool, paddling pool, tennis court, minigolf, camping, etc.
“The title of manor is misleading because it is in fact a castle”, explains its owner, Irène Baron. With her husband, Gaspard, they carried out activities there as a guest house, hotel, wedding reception, seminars and a campsite in season for many years… while living 550 km away, in Seine et Marne. “In winter, we did a lot of renovation work,” says Irène Baron. “It’s very, very nice,” she comments. But with age, it has become difficult to manage the estate and it is not our profession”.
A property acquired 16 years ago
So, three or four years ago, the couple in their seventies decided to put their property up for sale, which they had acquired in November 2006. “When we got married, my husband had said that we would buy a castle at the retreat to entertain there and we did. Initially, we wanted to go to Normandy, then our two children settled in Brittany… After a visit, we were given a document on the Cleuziou manor. The photo was not very attractive, we went there and fell in love with the place”. And, the following year, they started their first bed and breakfast… The places were advertised, according to the hostess, mainly through the booking platform, booking.com.

Last opened in August 2019
“They call me again today to book,” she notes, with amusement. “We last opened in August 2019, then there was covid. We took great pleasure in restoring the mansion and receiving very friendly people. We had a great time there,” she says.
And in terms of sales? €1.85 million is the latest price, set by the Baron family. “We have a lot of interested investors but they want a return on investment and are waiting to have more visibility in relation to covid, analyzes Irène Baron. If individuals were interested, the property would go faster and they would only have to put down their suitcases. The activity of bed and breakfast is very profitable if you live on site”.
The strongest wish of the Barons is that Le Cleuziou is quite simply bought by lovers of old stones.
