Le Livre sur les quais lifts the veil on part of its programming

From September 2 to 4, the 13th edition of the Morges festival will be chaired by the Franco-Congolese novelist, poet and essayist Alain Mabanckou. The Book on the quays will bring together more than 180 writers of different nationalities under the colors of Iceland and the Baconnière editions.

In September, the Livre sur les quais in Morges will host a plethora of great names in literature for more than a hundred meetings and signings: Alexandre Jollien, Monica Sabolo, Juan Gabriel Vasquez, Lola Lafon, Alain Claude Sulzer, Claire Keegan, Zep, Muriel Barbery, Walter Rosselli, Sandrine Collette and Alexandre Lacroix are among the 180 guests of this edition, alongside Icelandic feathers such as Jón Kalman Stefánsson or Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir. All genres are represented, from fiction to comics and essays.

The quays of Morges will be at the heart of the event with two signing tents to welcome authors throughout the weekend. The RTS studio will return to its place facing the lake and an outdoor literary stage dedicated to new formats will be set up in the Gardens of the Château. The festival will also take place in around ten places: from the Casino to the Château to Place Louis-Soutter.

News and favorites

This edition innovates by presenting a new format: “speed booking” or more exactly how an author pitches his book in five minutes in front of five people. A moment of sharing with a dozen writers who will offer the Morgian public an unusual opportunity to discuss their work.

For the second year, Le Livre sur les quais will also be offering a Literary Waltz during which four authors will read unpublished texts inspired by popular songs. This event is co-produced with the Montpellier festival La Comédie du Livre.

A thriller written by 8P students

Also on the program of the festival: literary interviews, debates on current themes such as ecology, philosophical discussions but also musical and literary performances such as the reading of Julien Burri and Stéphane Blok or the musical interview of the Swiss singer Sarclo. But also a cruise that will bring together Alain Mabanckou and Nicolas Mathieu, Prix Goncourt 2018, or even a great interview in English with the novelist Philippe Sands, who will also participate in meetings in French.

As usual, many workshops and meetings will be aimed at young audiences and families. Among the thirty or so children’s authors, Anne Goscinny, Clémentine Beauvais, Janik Coat and Olivier May will be present.

Finally, Le Livre sur les quais will host the launch of the thriller “The secret of the red balance” written by the twenty-one students of class 8P from Blonay-Saint-Légier, with the help of the writer Marc Voltenauer.
