All prices are increasing but you still want to maintain your ski holiday. Here are some good deals for cheap skiing, and a not too high bill!
Don’t go on vacation
Difficult to apply this advice when you have children in school. But in many cases, it is possible to leave during off-peak periods, to avoid the high season, especially the February holidays. Accommodation prices are generally lower. And the crowd on the slopes and at the foot of the ski lifts is much less dense than during school holidays. Example this year, the periods from January 4 to February 3 and from March 7 to the end of March. If you travel by train, you will also save money on the ticket by choosing to skip the holiday periods. Some disadvantages of course… If you are fond of entertainment, the resort’s program will certainly be less full at this time. And if you are used to resorting to Kids’ Club-type services to entrust your toddlers from morning to night, beware, these offers are generally not offered outside of school holidays.

If you know exactly what you want, plan ahead!
If you have your habits in a station, that you already have your favorite accommodation, only one piece of advice: anticipate. Many hosts offer “Early Booking” offers. A 10% discount (or even more) if you book before a certain date. Another good idea for anticipation, that of the races. The Sherpas and other Carrefour Montagne help out happily, but doing all your shopping there will certainly cost you a hefty bill. It is now possible to book Drives in all the hypermarkets located in the valley and much cheaper. By reserving the right time slot, you collect your shopping before going to the station. On Saturdays in February, you are not the only ones to have this idea, so it is better to anticipate a little to be sure of having the right time slot.
A ski area and a pass adapted to your level
If you are new to skiing, there is no need to choose a resort with a gigantic ski area and a package costing more than 60 Euros per day. The plans for the smallest domains cost significantly less, and even if they also increase, they will allow you to make a substantial saving. Whatever field you choose, you can often benefit froma beginner’s package. It does not allow you to use all the ski lifts, but only a few. For example in La Plagne, a day of Paradiski pass costs 67 Euros. The beginner package called CoolSki costs “only” 33 Euros. Find out, some stations do not promote these offers too much.
Another good plan on ski passes, free for the youngest. Some stations offer packages up to 8 years old and under certain conditions up to 12 years old! Finally, more and more resorts are charging dynamic prices. Prices may therefore be lower at certain times than at others, in particular depending on the number of visitors. Opportunities to seize on online ski pass sales sites.
Cheap ski equipment rental!
To save money on rental equipment, it is possible to benefit from attractive offers by reserving your equipment in advance online. Several sites offer equipment with attractive discounts. We will attract you with -65% even if in the end the reduction in high season will generally be much lower. If you arrive at a rental company in the resort without having reserved, you will pay the full price for sure.
Stay a little further?
If you want to save even more, you can choose to stay a little further away. Some mountain villages allow easy access to ski areas and offer much more attractive prices. In Bourg Saint Maurice, for example, a funicular allows you to climb up to the Arcs area, but accommodation in the valley is much cheaper. In Maurienne, Orelle provides access to the Val Thorens area but there too, prices are lower. However, beware of cheap accommodation located 40 or 50km from the resort. A round trip per day will quickly cost you quite a lot of fuel (not to mention your carbon footprint).
