Promising Young Woman, The Crown and My Rainey’s Black Bottom win 2021 Golden Globe nominations

This year the film Mank won six Golden Globe nominations, including Best Picture, where it will face off against Promising Young Woman, The Father, Nomadland and The Trial of the Chicago Seven. And in the Best Director category, Emerald Fennell is nominated for Promising Young Woman, just like David Fincher for Mank, Aaron Sorkin for The Trial of the Chicago 7, Chloé Zhao for Nomadland and Regina King for One Night in Miami.

The Crown once again took the lead in TV nominations, where she faces Lovecraft Country, The Mandalorian, Ozark and Ratched. Her stars Olivia Colman and Emma Corrin are both nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series, as is Jodie Comer for Killing Eve, Laura Linney for Ozark and Sarah Paulson for Ratched. And for the Golden Globe for Best Actor, Josh O’Connor of The Crown will compete with Jason Bateman for Ozark, Bob Odenkirk for Better call saul, Al Pacino for Hunters, and Matthew Rhys for Perry mason.

During this time, Schitt’s Creek leads the way in musicals and television comedies with five nominations. Her first role, Catherine O’Hara, is also up for Best Actress in a Television Series, as is Lily Collins for Emily in Paris, Kaley Cuoco for The Flight Attendant and Elle Fanning for The Great. And for Best Actor in a Television Series, Eugene Levy was nominated for Schitt’s Creek, Don Cheadle for Black monday, Nicholas Hoult for The Great, Jason Sudeikis for Ted lasso and Ramy Youssef for Ramy.

In the mini-series categories, The Undoing and the anthology Small Ax of Steve mcqueen both received multiple nominations. Both are in the running for the award for best miniseries with The Queen’s Game, Normal People and Unorthodox.
