The 2022 Golden Globes announced their nominations with notably “Squid Game”, the first Korean series ever nominated in the Best Drama section, and Omar Sy named Best Actor for “Lupine”!
The award season is on! It was live that Snoop Dogg and Helen Hoehne, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, announced the nominees for the 79th Golden Globes. The evening, which will be held in Los Angeles on January 9, is an opportunity to honor those who made the series world shine during the year 2021.
First big surprise: the presence of the French! Omar Sy gets his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series with Lupine. Fiction, which reinvents the cult character of Maurice Leblanc, also won a nomination in the best drama series category.
Another French in the running
Another good news is the nomination of Tahar Rahim for Le Serpent in the best actor category for a mini-series. Netflix’s True Crime focuses on the fate of criminal Charles Sobhraj. This is the second time the performer has been nominated for the Golden Globes, a year after his nomination for Designated Guilty by Kevin Macdonald. This year, he faces Ewan McGregor, Michael Keaton, Oscar Isaac and Paul Bettany.
Success on the Squid Game side. The Netflix phenomenon won no less than 3 nominations, a historic first for a South Korean program. The fiction was nominated for Best Drama Series, Best Actor for Lee Jung-jae and Best Supporting Actor for Oh Yeong-su.
Succesion and WandaVision appointed
Succession also shines with 4 nominations and won 2 nominations in one and the same category: best actor in a drama series for Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong. Marvel side, nice blow for WandaVision. The Disney + series sees its two performers, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, named in their respective roles.
