The Mandalorian and Lovecraft Country are in the running for the title of best drama series of the year. Netflix is also in competition with The Crown, Ozark and Ratched. On the film side, Tenet has absent subscribers.
Like every year, the Golden Globes will reward the best productions from the small and big screen. A few days before the ceremony, which will take place next February 28, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association unveils the list of nominees in each category. The geek universe holds a place of choice and many series and films of the genre are in the race. Without surprise, Disney + made a grand entrance with its series derived from the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is in the running for the title of Best Drama Series, just like the HBO series Lovecraft Country. They face The Crown, Ozark and Ratched. For the big screen, Netflix also enters the competition with the new film of David Fincher, Mank. To win the precious reward, he will have to beat The Father, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman and The Trial of The Chicago 7. While it will soon arrive on Amazon Prime, Palm springs starring Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti, is in the running for the title of best comedy / musical of the year. We also find Hamilton available on Disney +, Borat 2 on Amazon Prime Video, The Prom from Netflix and Music directed by singer Sia. Finally, Pixar is in the race for the best animated film with its last two productions: Drunk and Forward. They face The croods 2, Over the moon and Wolfwalkers.
Tenet, big absent from the selection
To everyone’s surprise, Christopher Nolan’s new film does not make the contests for best film of the year. Tenet has the right to only one nomination, that of the best original music. Ludwig Gorranson will face Alexandre Desplat for The Midnight Sky, James Newton Howard for The mission and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for Mank and Drunk. It should also be noted that despite its success with the public, the series The Boys is not among the list of comedy series of the year.
