Crimson desert console specs emerge ahead of launch

Pearl Abyss has finally laid out the performance details for Crimson Desert on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, just a week before its March 19 release. The reveal comes after online speculation about the game’s console versions, fueling concerns reminiscent of the Cyberpunk 2077 debacle.

Performance benchmarks detailed

The developer provided a comprehensive breakdown of performance across the console spectrum. This includes the less powerful Xbox Series S, the standard PS5, and the beefier Xbox Series X, as well as detailing performance modes like Performance, Balanced, and Quality for each. Resolution and target frame rates – up to 60fps – were specified, along with ray tracing quality settings.

While the detailed specifications are available, Pearl Abyss hasn’t released any new gameplay footage showcasing the game on consoles. This has heightened anxieties among players who felt the studio had been deliberately withholding information.

A recent statement from a Pearl Abyss spokesperson, Will Powers, seemed to address these concerns directly. He urged patience, stating that they would reveal console performance details before launch to allow players time to pre-order. The sentiment, bordering on exasperation, suggests a desire to quell the growing apprehension.

On PC, the game’s ultra settings will require an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT to achieve a stable 4K 60fps. Powers emphasized the studio’s focus on optimization throughout development. Crimson Desert will retail for $69.99 and will feature no cosmetic cash shop or microtransactions.

The detailed specifications offer a glimpse into the game’s technical capabilities, but the true test will come with its release. Will the console versions live up to the promises made? We’ll see.
