Fort Stewart Soldiers Offered Time Off to Reenlist for Grand Theft Auto 6

At least 20 soldiers from the 3rd Infantry Division’s 9th Brigade Engineering Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia, have chosen to reenlist after being presented with an unprecedented incentive: time off to play the highly anticipatedGrand Theft Auto 6. The offer, spearheaded by Lt. Col. Ryan D. Hodgson, was part of a new program designed to boost reenlistment rates.

Unique Incentive Program Launched

According to a statement released by 3rd Infantry Division Lt. Col. Angel Tomko, the command team, working with career counselors, aimed to “connect to what soldiers are interested in” and “get soldiers excited to reenlist.” The program allows eligible soldiers – approximately 130 – to commit to a reenlistment period of at least two years, in exchange for four days off to play the new game. Registration is open until November 14, 2026, coinciding with the game’s November 19th launch.
