Hooters: The Movie in Pre-Production, Original Founders Involved

A film adaptation of the Hooters restaurant chain’s story is currently in the early stages of pre-production. Hooters: The Movie will chronicle the creation of the iconic restaurant chain, inspired by ‘real events’ in its history.

The Story Behind the Brand

The film follows the journey of Ted and Lenny, the original founders, as they build their ‘breastaurant’ empire, only to face challenges from the US government. A key element of the story involves Ted falling for Diane, a woman he meets on television, and recruiting her to become one of the original Hooters Girls.

Production Details

Edward Droste, one of the co-founders, is producing the film and co-writing the screenplay. Jon Rosenbaum, known for Benchwarmers 2: Breaking Balls, is directing. Casting is already underway, with filming scheduled to begin in November in Tampa and Clearwater, Florida – the locations of the chain’s first restaurant in 1983.
