Lg's next-gen oled tvs arrive, with brighter panels and ai upscaling

LG is now accepting pre-orders for its latest OLED TVs, the OLED Evo G6 and OLED Evo C6, which boast improved brightness and AI-powered upscaling.

Price and availability

The TVs range from $1,399 for the 42-inch C6 to $24,999 for the massive 97-inch G6. They'll be available for purchase sometime this month, with no price hike despite rising supply chain costs.

Display and performance

Both models feature 4K displays with 120Hz-native variable refresh rates, making them well-suited for gaming and fast-paced content. The G6's four-stack OLED panel tech promises a 20% increase in brightness compared to its predecessor, the G5.

Other key features include support for HDR formats like Dolby Vision, Atmos, and Filmmaker Mode with Ambient Light Compensation, which aims to accurately represent the artist's vision in various lighting conditions.

Ai and connectivity

The TVs also come with built-in AI upscaling via LG's A11 AI Processor 4K Gen 3, which enhances lower-resolution content. However, they've downgraded from Wi-Fi 6E to Wi-Fi 5, which might impact streaming performance in heavily congested networks.

Sizes and variants

The G6 will be available in five sizes, from 55 to 97 inches. The C6 starts at 42 inches and tops out at 83 inches.

While the G6's hefty price tag may be out of reach for many, the C6 offers a more affordable entry point to LG's OLED technology. With its improved brightness and AI-powered features, these new TVs aim to set a high bar for the OLED market.
