Malcolm in the middle revival without dewey, but family favorites return

The long-awaited revival of 2000s sitcom Malcolm in the Middle is finally on the horizon, premiering on Hulu and Disney+ on April 10. However, fans of the show's mischievous youngest sibling Dewey will be disappointed to learn that Erik Per Sullivan, the actor who played him, has declined a reported lucrative offer to reprise the role. In a recent interview with The Guardian, Jane Kaczmarek, who portrayed the family matriarch Lois, revealed that Sullivan is currently pursuing his master's degree at Harvard and has no interest in acting since his early childhood days on set.

Original cast returns, new faces join

Despite Sullivan's absence, the majority of the beloved original cast is back for Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair, which follows Malcolm's return to his family for his parents' 40th anniversary celebration. Frankie Muniz reprises his role as the titular character, while Bryan Cranston, Christopher Kennedy Masterson, and Justin Berfield return as Hal, Francis, and Reese, respectively. Kaczmarek also makes a comeback as Lois.

Other familiar faces include Emy Coligado as Francis' wife Piama and Caleb Ellsworth-Clark as grown-up Dewey. New additions to the family include Anthony Timpano and Vaughan Murrae as the youngest siblings Jamie and Kelly, and Keeley Karsten and Kiana Madeira as Malcolm's daughter Leah and girlfriend Tristan, respectively.
