Minecraft theme park coming to life in 2027
Get ready to enter the blocky world. Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments have officially announced Minecraft World, a $70 million theme park set to open in 2027. The park, inspired by the wildly popular video game, promises to bring iconic elements like Creepers and crafting tables to reality.

Minecraft world: a real-world adventure
The announcement, made during Minecraft Live in March 2026, confirms plans for the park’s debut at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London. While specific details remain under wraps, early concept art hints at immersive environments based on familiar Minecraft biomes, mobs, and items. Think wooden houses, TNT blocks, and even a Nether-themed dining area.
“Minecraft World represents a meaningful milestone in our ongoing journey to expand the Minecraft universe,” said Torfi Frans Ólafsson, senior creative director of Entertainment at Minecraft. The collaboration with Merlin Entertainments seeks to create an authentic and welcoming experience for families and fans alike.
Beyond the familiar sights, the park will feature a “thrilling world first coaster, interactive adventures, epic block built playscapes, and themed retail and dining.” This isn't the first time a video game has inspired a theme park. Super Nintendo World and various Halloween Horror Nights attractions demonstrate the trend’s growing popularity.
The project is still in development, and a firm opening date beyond 2027 hasn't been revealed. However, the announcement signals a significant expansion of the Minecraft franchise beyond the digital realm. The park’s success hinges on successfully translating the game's unique appeal into a tangible, engaging experience – a considerable challenge.
