Miyamoto's mission: bringing pikmin to every nintendo project

Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Pikmin, has a serious obsession with the little yellow creatures. In an interview at the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan, ahead of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie release, Miyamoto revealed he's on a mission to include Pikmin in every Nintendo product he can.

Miyamoto's love for pikmin permeates everything nintendo does

This explains why Pikmin have made dozens of cameos in various Nintendo games, from Mario Kart to Animal Crossing, often hiding in the background or existing as part of a costume.

Even in a recent video short featuring Pikmin moving items in a nursery, it seems Miyamoto's passion for his characters knows no bounds. The Nintendo legend has been spreading the Pikmin love since years ago, and it's clear his enthusiasm for the franchise continues unabated.

Speaking with Miyamoto and Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri about the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the pair discussed R.O.B. and other cameo appearances in the film, as well as why they skipped Super Mario 64 and Sunshine to focus on Galaxy instead.
