Nasa's ambitious plan for lunar return faces skepticism
The NASA has unveiled its plans to implement the U.S. National Space Policy, which seems more like a PowerPoint overdose. As an adult who's followed space exploration for years, I'm convinced the agency has suffered from a PowerPoint overdose and will only see a tiny part of what's proposed come to fruition, let alone on the proposed timelines.

Nasa's three-phase lunar plan faces challenges
The first phase, scheduled for 2027, aims to accelerate lunar missions with up to 30 CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) landings over three years, nearly monthly. However, this ambitious pace has not been one of NASA's most successful programs to date.
Phase two, expected by 2030, will establish initial infrastructure, leveraging lessons learned from the first missions. This phase supports recurrent astronaut operations on the surface and incorporates international contributions, including Japan's JAXA rover and potential scientific payloads from collaborating partners.
Phase three, slated for 2032, will facilitate long-duration human presence, marked by the transition from periodic expeditions to a permanent lunar base. This involves habitats, utility vehicles, and other infrastructure contributions from international partners like the Italian Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency.
However, the key challenge lies in preparing for these ambitious plans. The Space Reactor-1 Freedom, a nuclear-powered interplanetary spacecraft, is set to reach Mars by 2028, but this is a tall order given the current state of development. The entire plan relies on significant funding and a coherent leadership structure, both of which remain uncertain.
