Nintendo faces class-action lawsuit over tariff refunds

Nintendo fans have launched a class-action lawsuit demanding that the company returns tariff refunds to customers, who paid higher prices for Switch accessories and consoles over the past year.

The lawsuit, filed by Gregory Hoffert and Prashant Sharan, argues that Nintendo should not profit from the tariff refund money it received after increasing prices on its products. The company had previously stated that it would pass on the costs of tariffs to consumers.

Nintendo received a collective $160 billion tariff refund from the US government after the Supreme Court intervened in the dispute. However, the company then raised prices on various Switch peripherals and the Switch console itself, leading to the lawsuit.

Other companies, like FedEx, have also agreed to return the tariff refunds to consumers. IGN has reached out to Nintendo for comment.
