Post-apocalyptic dining gets a hilariously grim upgrade

Forget survivalist gear. The real key to enduring the end of the world? A perfectly cooked hot dog. Space Rock Games' new game, Doomsday Diner, puts players in the greasy shoes of a diner owner desperately fending off wasteland raiders while flipping patties. A playable demo and trailer landed today, signaling a Steam release later this year.

Serve up mayhem in doomsday diner

The game blends classic diner simulation elements – cooking, cleaning, upgrading – with surprisingly brutal physics-based combat. Expect sausage-slinging chaos as you defend your establishment from the hordes. Developed by the New Zealand studio Space Rock Games, known for their work on titles like Fable and Path of Exile, Doomsday Diner joins a growing roster of quirky sims on Steam. Think House Flipper meets Goat Simulator, but with more impending doom.

The studio is also developing Criminals Within, an asymmetric co-op action-adventure game. Doomsday Diner is now available to wishlist on Steam. It’s a darkly funny take on a familiar genre, proving that even in the face of annihilation, some things – like a well-made chili cheese dog – endure.
