Rebel wolves plots two ips, prioritizes team over dawnwalker

Rebel Wolves CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz isn’t resting on his laurels, despite the anticipated release of The Blood of Dawnwalker later this year. The studio’s ambitious vision extends far beyond the first installment of its new RPG saga, with plans for a second, entirely separate intellectual property already taking shape.

A blizzard-inspired strategy for sustained momentum

Tomaszkiewicz, speaking from Rebel Wolves’ headquarters in Warsaw, Poland, outlined a strategic approach mirroring Blizzard’s success – a model of building multiple, distinct franchises. ‘It’s really smart to work how Blizzard worked before,’ he stated. ‘They had Warcraft, but they also created StarCraft. It’s smart because people need refreshment.’ He emphasized the need to avoid creative stagnation and ensure long-term viability, arguing that a second IP is paramount.

The developer’s philosophy centers around fostering a positive work environment. ‘Here in the studio, the most important thing is to obviously create the cool stuff, but we’re saying that the team comes first,’ Tomaszkiewicz explained. ‘We want to work with the people we have as long as it’s possible. We need to create the environment, starting from how they feel in the company, but also how they feel working on this particular game now.’ This commitment to his team—a veteran force including former CD Projekt Red leadership—is clearly a core tenet of his strategy.

Beyond dawnwalker: a dual-ip roadmap

Beyond dawnwalker: a dual-ip roadmap

Tomaszkiewicz envisions a future where Rebel Wolves releases one title from the Dawnwalker universe and simultaneously launches a completely new IP, followed by a return to the established saga. This approach, he believes, will inject freshness and maintain audience engagement. ‘I think that, some time from now, we will do one game from [the Dawnwalker] IP and a second game from a different IP, and then back to [Dawnwalker],’ he elaborated. The delay of The Blood of Dawnwalker – slated for a September 3rd launch – provides the necessary runway to pursue this multifaceted development.

Focus on creative fulfillment

Tomaszkiewicz’s frustration stems from projects that rely on iterative, superficial changes. He’s determined to steer Rebel Wolves away from this, prioritizing genuine creative fulfillment for his team. ‘What no one tells you is that sometimes, you’re just polishing the same thing,’ he admitted. The success of The Blood of Dawnwalker will hinge not just on its gameplay, but on the passion and investment of the entire Rebel Wolves crew. And with a veteran team and a bold strategic vision, the studio is poised to deliver something truly compelling – and perhaps, a whole lot more – in the years to come. The countdown to September 3rd continues.”n
