Unleashed arrives with new abilities and champions
Set to launch
in China on April 10th, with an English release following on May 8th, Unleashed introduces over 200 new cards, building upon the established mechanics of its predecessors. A key addition is the XP system, a new resource that players accumulate by controlling battlefields, which can then be spent in various ways. The expansion also features new abilities like 'Ambush,' allowing units to be played at Reaction speed, and 'Hunt,' the primary driver of XP generation. Riftbound is also introducing token cards and Reflections, creating deeper strategic possibilities in deck construction.
Notable additions include new Legend cards such as Diana, Scorn of the Moon, and Lillia, Bashful Bloom. Master Yi, previously featured in the Origins Proving Grounds, receives a new Legend card, making him the first character to have multiple iterations. The set also introduces the Ultimate Rarity, appearing in less than 1% of booster packs, with the Baron Nashor being the sole Ultimate Rare card.
The inclusion of token cards and the XP system suggest a shift toward more dynamic and strategic gameplay, potentially altering established meta builds.
Riftbound’s continued evolution demonstrates the enduring appeal of translating complex game mechanics into a tangible trading card experience. This isn't just a game; it's a strategic battleground.
