Robert Bogue, GTA 5 Actor, Auditioned for 60 Roles in GTA 6 and Was Rejected

Actor Robert Bogue, known for playing FIB agent Steve Haines in Grand Theft Auto 5, revealed he auditioned for over 60 roles in Grand Theft Auto 6 but was ultimately not selected by Rockstar Games. The information surfaced after X user Burak shared Bogue’s responses to direct messages on Instagram.

Bogue Expresses Disappointment with Rockstar

Bogue expressed disappointment with Rockstar, stating, "I'm a little bit down on Rockstar right now." He explained that despite enjoying his previous work with the company, he “so badly wanted to work on GTA 6” and auditioned for numerous roles, both large and small. He was frustrated by the lack of communication, noting, “They never called me about any of them.”

Bogue also suggested a possible unofficial policy against reusing actors, questioning why he would be rejected so many times even for minor roles. He likened the situation to a romantic rejection.

Bogue's History with Rockstar and Industry Precedents

Bogue has a history with Rockstar, having previously portrayed Red Harlow in Red Dead Revolver, Troy in Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony, and Steve Haines in Grand Theft Auto 5. While Rockstar has reused actors in the past – Ned Luke, who played Michael in GTA 5, had a role in Red Dead Redemption 2 – his lines were reportedly cut.

Bogue’s experience isn’t unique. Prior disputes between Rockstar and actors have occurred, including a disagreement with Niko Bellic actor Michael Hollick over compensation for his work on Grand Theft Auto 4, which reportedly prevented his cameo in GTA 5. Ray Liotta also voiced concerns about pay for his role in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Recent Positive Experiences with Rockstar

Despite these past issues, relationships between Rockstar and actors have seemingly improved recently, with actors like Roger Clark, Ned Luke, and Shawn Fonteno praising their experiences. Fonteno and Luke have even reprised their GTA 5 roles in updates for GTA Online.
