Starfield's future secured: todd howard vows legendary status
Bethesda Game Studios’ ambitious space odyssey, Starfield, is set for continued development, with head of the studio Todd Howard asserting the game will eventually achieve legendary status. The commitment comes from Inon Zur, the game's composer, who revealed Howard's unwavering dedication to the project.
Howard remains firm on starfield's vision
Speaking to RPGsite, Zur noted that Starfield, upon its 2023 release, faced a less enthusiastic reception than Bethesda's established franchises like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Despite a subsequent expansion, Bethesda has largely remained tight-lipped about future plans. However, a recent gathering of dedicated fans at the studio signals renewed activity.
Zur described Howard as a persuasive visionary, capable of articulating a direction without explicitly naming it. He emphasized Howard's conviction in his vision, a trait that Zur believes will ultimately resonate with players.
“He believes in his way, and it just has proven time and time again that eventually people will understand his vision. It just takes time,” Zur said. This steadfastness is particularly relevant as Bethesda shifts its focus towards The Elder Scrolls VI, a project Howard has indicated will return to the series' “classic style” after experimentation with online and sandbox elements in previous titles.
While The Elder Scrolls VI remains years away, Howard recently confirmed that “a lot of Starfield content” is on its way, promising a more public announcement “really soon.” Industry insiders have hinted at improvements to the game’s space travel mechanics, aiming for a more rewarding experience than the planet-hopping system currently in place.
A recent retail leak suggested that new content will arrive alongside a PlayStation 5 version of Starfield, slated for a April 7 launch. Fans are eager for more story quests, expanded ship options, and deeper exploration, and the possibility of a Fallout 3 remaster continues to fuel speculation.
Howard's commitment to Starfield underscores Bethesda's long-term investment in the project, a testament to the studio’s belief in the game’s potential. It’s a bet on a vision that, despite initial hesitation, Zur remains certain will pay off.
