Studio ellipsis's nightholme unleashes terror with pvpve gameplay

Studio Ellipsis is plunging gamers into a dark world of horror with its upcoming title, Nightholme. The game, led by Alexandre Amancio, former creative director of Assassin's Creed Revelations and Assassin's Creed Unity, promises a chilling PvPvE experience.

Nightholme's grimrunners face off against nightmarish creatures

Players take on the role of Grimrunners, monster hunters with the choice of three playable classes: ranged, melee, or stealth. The objective is to survive in a terrifying map overrun by beasts, completing tasks, looting rewards, and battling fellow players for valuable resources.

But here's the twist - each playthrough begins with an intention, not a set goal. This intention can range from defeating a zone boss to aiding factions, scavenging for treasure, or simply taking down other Grimrunners to steal their spoils.

As players progress, they can unlock new skills in a branching skill tree. However, a temporary transformation into a powerful, nightmarish creature called a Grimspawn comes at a cost - it gradually erodes the player's sanity, making it a strategic choice in combat.

At the heart of Nightholme's economy is the Seed of Terror, a rare, valuable reward earned in each match. These seeds can be used to progress beyond solo or co-op play, and even boost certain abilities or alter the Grimspawn transformation. The game is still in development, with a PC release planned but no set launch date yet.
