The quest for picture perfection just took a quantum leap. Woog and Dreame have unveiled the Z8000, an 85-inch Mini-LED television boasting a groundbreaking glass substrate – a move poised to redefine premium display quality and design.

Glass substrate elevates mini-led technology

Forget plastic. The new Z8000 utilizes a glass substrate, a departure that's not merely aesthetic. This technological shift enables Mini LEDs to be significantly smaller and closer together, dramatically reducing blooming – that distracting halo effect around bright objects. The psychological impact is also considerable; glass signals a premium product, a departure from the perceived budget feel of plastic.

The Z8000 isn't just about visual tweaks. It packs an astounding 16,128 local dimming zones, each controlled by a sophisticated four-light system. The total of 64,512 Mini LEDs achieve a peak brightness exceeding 10,000 nits, readily satisfying the UHD Alliance’s stringent specifications.

A key element is the zero-millimeter gap between the Mini LEDs and the screen’s surface. This innovative optical design, developed by Woge Optoelectronics, allows light emission to be directly aligned with the display. The result? A remarkably thin 12.9mm profile and a unique transparent back panel, all while minimizing blooming to unprecedented levels.

Color performance is equally impressive. The Z8000 employs a glass-based, RGB Mini-LED light source delivering 100% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut. This, coupled with the high brightness, ensures the TV meets the UHD Alliance’s highest standards.

While the Z8000 is initially slated for the Chinese market, its arrival elsewhere remains uncertain. The price point is also undisclosed. However, this development underscores China’s rapid advancement in display technology – a progress often confined to domestic consumption.
