The five-issue comic series picks up where the dramatic Season 1 finale left off, with the X-Men scattered through time and Forge assembling a new team. Based on the main cover art by Todd Nauck, the story will focus on Forge, Jubilee, Sunspot, and Bishop, with the possibility of other mutants joining their cause.

X-Men '97: Season Two is written by Steve Foxe and illustrated by Salva Espin, the same creative team behind the original comic. The first issue features covers by Nauck, Jhony Caballero, Natacha Bustos, and Dan Jurgens, with Caballero's cover showcasing.

Foxe expressed his excitement about telling more stories in the X-Men '97 universe, ensuring that the comic stays true to the cliffhanger status quo left by Season One. With X-Men '97: Season Two #1 scheduled for release on June 3, 2026, fans can pre-order a copy at their local comic shop. The comic's arrival may also indicate the debut of the animated series' second season around the same time.
