“The White Lotus” earns four nominations at the 2023 Golden Globes.

CINEMA – Even as the year 2022 is about to end, the season of major Hollywood ceremonies is approaching. The Golden Globeswhose 2023 edition will be held in Los Angeles on January 11, have unveiled their appointments this Monday, December 12. Among the series selected, the one everyone is talking about right now: The White Lotus.

The HBO series, whose final episode of season 2 was broadcast on Monday in the United States, is named four times, in particular thanks to two of its actresses, Jennifer Coolidge and Aubrey Plaza. Two other series, namely The Crown (netflix) and Only Murders in the Building(Disney+) each leave with four nominations as well. Disney+ comedy Abbott Elementary is in the lead with five nominations.

Winning return?

Most attended ceremony after the Oscarsthe Golden Globes hope to extricate themselves from the scandals of racism, sexism and corruption which have destroyed their prestige over the years, the last edition having notably been organized without an audience nor broadcast live on television.

After carefully promoted reforms, the organization renewed its membership. Its jury, which included 103 new entrants, is now made up of 52% women and 51.5% people from ethnic minorities. As for the NBC channel, historical partner of the Golden Globes, it has finally decided to rebroadcast the next ceremony.

It remains to be seen if the Hollywood elite is ready to return their letters of nobility to the Golden Globes, several celebrities like Brendan Fraser (star of The Whale) having already planned to boycott the social event.
