What should have been a big party eventually turned into a very gloomy award ceremony, not broadcast on American television. On the night of Sunday to Monday, Hollywood presented its favorite actors with the prizes for their performances on television and in the cinema, on the occasion of the 79th Golden Globes. While many personalities of the 7th art usually jostle at the gate to attend this prestigious evening, the 2022 vintage had unanimously decided not to make the trip, forcing the organizers to announce the prices during a live-tweet.

In question ? The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), jury of this award ceremony, has been for several months targeted by charges of racism, sexism, harassment and corruption. If the NBC television channel finally gave up broadcasting the ceremony, an evening was nevertheless organized at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, to highlight the philanthropic works of the association.

The series Succession big winner of the evening

The HBO series Succession is the winner of the evening and leaves with the trophies of Best Dramatic Series, Best Actor (Jeremy Strong) and Best Supporting Actress (Sarah Snook). Squid Game, last year’s event series, also featured in the Golden Globes thanks to the prize won by Oh-Yeong-su, the interpreter of the old man Oh Il-nam, who became the first Korean actor to be awarded in the category Best Supporting Actor.

Small disappointment, however, for French aficionados of the 7th art, since Marion Cotillard, nominated in the category Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for Annette, Tahar Rahim, nominated for the Golden Globes of Best Actor in a Dramatic Mini-Series for his performance in The snake, or Omar Sy, who appeared in the list of Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Lupine, all three left without the precious statuette.
