The Panama Jazz Festival is preparing to receive the public of all ages from January 16 to 21 with more than 100 activities for children, young people and adults in the different settings that the Festival presents this year.
Educational activities from 9am, free concerts every day from 1pm in the La Plaza area, family and night concerts at the Ateneo Theater, all located in the City of Knowledge, 3 great concerts at the Anayansi Theater in Atlapa and the great closing concert in the central quadrangle of the City of Knowledge (Free).
In this edition the Panama Jazz Festival will present more than 90 international artists the stature of the Cuban pianist and winner of 7 Grammys and 4 Latin Grammys Chucho Valdés Quartet; 2-time Grammy Award winner
Catherine Russell, daughter of Bocatoreño and jazz legend Luis RusselWe will also have the privilege of seeing the beloved Erika Ender live for the first time together with Maestro Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci and Brian Blade, the ensemble made up of women and non-binary artists directed by Patricia Zárate de Pérez, El Global Jazz Womxn; the winner with a Guinness World Record as the tropical artist with the most record productions that have reached the number one position on Billboard, Gilberto Santa Rosa, are some of the great international artists who join the celebration of the 20 years of the Festival.
Like every year the Panama Jazz Festival will have the participation of highly prestigious educational institutions such as the musical interpretation program, Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) designed to promote creativity and musical mastery through various musical disciplines, with the pianist and composer Danilo Pérez as its founder and artistic director, America’s oldest independent music school, the New England Conservatory (NEC), the New York Jazz Academy and other guests at the festival’s educational events.
In addition to having the participation of more than 100 national artists such as: The privileged and unmistakable voice, Idania Dowman, The Luis Russell Collective, a Panamanian group made up of musicians from the Danilo Perez Foundation driven by rescuing the historical and musical memory of the bocatoreño pianist, composer and arranger Luis Carl Russell, the music group Fusión Folclórica de Panamá, Afrodisiaco, the new educational project of the Danilo Pérez Foundation that promotes the development of girls and women through of music, Las Hijas del Jazz, under the executive direction of Aleida Duartes (Danilo Pérez Foundation) and musical direction of the Executive Director of the Panama Jazz Festival, Patricia Zárate; “El Príncipe del Sentimiento”, Celsito Quintero, a young Panamanian typical music singer-songwriter, son of folklorist Celso Quintero, who in a short time has left his mark in terms of authoring great typical music hits.
