But then-president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Michael Greene, insisted that Dre was wrong.
“I don’t think the content of Eminem’s album has anything to do with it. Otherwise, he would not have been nominated or won the other Grammy Awards. Voters don’t really care what critics think or how they are perceived. They are very independent,” Greene said.

But the way she came, it doesn’t mean the same to me. We didn’t get a chance to do the song with a heart set on it because we had to run in and out. We went in one day and finished it at least so people could hear a proper version, but we couldn’t put our heart and soul into it.”

Dre isn’t the only artist to let his feelings about the Grammys be known. Outspoken rapper Eminem vowed to attend the Grammy Awards a few years ago. Speaking with Sway Calloway, he revealed the reasons behind his decision.
“Every damn year. I’m tired of watching it,” Eminem explained. “For some reason, they’re always releasing this track that you could win album of the year, which used to be a big deal. I don’t think it’s a big deal right now. I sat at home for this year’s Grammys and saw that Jay and Kendrick didn’t make it, and I felt like one of them should have made it.”
Since the “Lose Yourself” artist felt the Grammys constantly snubbed hip-hop artists, he declined to contribute to the ceremony.
“Don’t bring us all here, to use them as your selling point for your shit show, and fool everyone every damn time. After that moment, I said never ask me to come here again. My answer is not for a hundred million years,” she added.
