Madrid will bring the Latin Grammys to Spain for the first time as the venue for its Acoustic Sessions | Madrid Gazette

The Community of Madrid will host the Acoustic Sessions of the Latin Grammys, an international event that will bring the Latin Recording Academy to Spain for the first time, the main benchmark for this music in the world. This has been advanced today by the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, during her intervention in the Debate on the State of the Region, where she has broken down other initiatives and bets of the regional Executive related to the music industry.

The acoustic performance organized by Latin Grammy, which will take place this coming fall, will be led by an established star and will also feature guest artists, constituting the prelude to the Latin Grammy Awards ceremony, which will be held in Las Vegas on the 17th of november. It is a concert for an audience made up of representatives of the national and international music scene, which will take place in a unique space in the Community of Madrid.

Previous editions have been in capitals such as New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, Mexico City, Bogotá, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo or Buenos Aires, and have featured artists of the stature of Alejandro Sanz, David Bisbal, Julieta Venegas, Carlos Vives, Maluma, Rosalía or Pablo Alborán.

The objective of these sessions is to honor an artist of recognized prestige and contribute to the development of emerging talents, with a focus on diversity and equality within each genre. His landing in Spain is the result of the conversations held by President Díaz Ayuso with Sony Music US Latin, in order to strengthen Madrid as hub Spanish, European and Latin American music.

Small-format concerts at the Wizinl Center

In addition, the Madrid ecosystem of business attraction and talent within the industry will be reinforced with other initiatives. Among them, the opening of a new room for small-format concerts in the WiZink Center also stands out, with a capacity for 900 people, fundamentally dedicated to the projection of emerging musicians.

This project, launched by the multipurpose venue with capacity for up to 17,453 spectators, known for hosting sporting events and large-format concerts, represents a complete model for the provision of stage space, technical aids and academy/training. It is about supporting new musical promises and providing them with a space for performance and dissemination.

On the other hand, the Community of Madrid will host and collaborate with the recently created Spanish Academy of Music, under the presidency of the director and composer Luis Cobos, which has been promoted by a group of artists including Alejandro Sanz, Pablo Alborán , Manuel Carrasco and Rosana, and which has the express support of others such as C. Tangana or Aitana. Among its promoters there are also authors, producers, managers and other agents in the sector, since its purpose is to serve as a meeting place for the music industry and achieve goals related to it.

festival attraction

Parallel to these new initiatives, the Autonomous Government will continue to reinforce its aid policy for music production, theaters and emerging groups, as well as attracting festivals. One of the great examples is the arrival in Madrid of the Spring Soundthe most important urban live music festival in Europe, which until now has been held exclusively in Barcelona and which in its 2023 edition will have a second weekend on June 8, 9 and 10 in the City of Rock of Arganda del Rey.

As evidenced by the celebration of the madcool last July, these events represent a focus of attraction for national and international tourism in the Community of Madrid.
