Acotar saga: maas reveals 6 & 7 release dates, plus a surprise eighth!
Sarah J. Maas, the reigning queen of dark fantasy, has dropped a bombshell for her devoted ACOTAR fanbase: not one, but two new installments are on the horizon, with a third potentially in development. The news, revealed during a recent appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, sends a ripple of excitement through the literary world and confirms a continuation of the beloved series beyond the events of “A Court of Silver Flames.”
The long wait is nearing its end
Readers have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of A Court of Thorns and Roses 6 since Maas confirmed its completion back in August 2025. The five-year gap since the publication of “A Court of Silver Flames” felt like an eternity, but the wait is finally drawing to a close. The sixth book is slated for release on October 27, 2026, followed swiftly by A Court of Thorns and Roses 7 on January 12, 2027.
But the surprises didn't stop there. Maas also hinted at an eighth installment in the series, though a release date remains under wraps. This expansive plan reveals a far more ambitious vision for the ACOTAR universe than initially anticipated. “The story that finally was ready to come out of me was big, really big,” Maas stated, indicating a significant shift in scope.

More than a trilogy: a four-part epic
Forget traditional trilogies – Maas is crafting something altogether more complex. The author described the upcoming books as a “huge story that unfolds in several parts,” specifically four chapters divided across the next three releases. ACOTAR 6 will cover the first part, ACOTAR 7 will encompass the second and third, and ACOTAR 8 will conclude the epic saga with its fourth and final part. This structure allows for a deeper exploration of the world and its characters, moving beyond the initial focus on Feyre and Rhysand.
The saga has evolved considerably. The first three books centered on Feyre, Rhysand, and Tamlin, establishing the core mythology. A Court of Silver Flames then shifted the spotlight to Nesta Archeron and Cassian, expanding the narrative and introducing new dynamics. Rumors suggest that ACOTAR 6 may spotlight Elain Archeron, the third Archeron sister, though this remains unconfirmed. With Maas’s admission that the story has grown beyond her initial plans, expect a greater spotlight on secondary characters, giving them the space to develop and shine.
The expanded scope will allow for a deeper dive into a world that already holds millions captive.
