Call of duty movie confirmed for modern warfare universe

Paramount Pictures and Activision have locked in the setting for their upcoming Call of Duty film adaptation: the long-running Modern Warfare universe.

Plot details remain under wraps for now

Director Peter Borg, who is co-writing the script with Taylor Sheridan, made the announcement at a Call of Duty in Culture Panel at Fanatics Fest in New York City today. The news suggests fans may finally get some insight into the yet-undisclosed plot, given the Modern Warfare series' more contemporary take on the Call of Duty franchise.

First released in 2007, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was a major departure from the series' World War II roots, introducing a gritty, modern-day setting and a cast of characters like Soap, Ghost, Captain Price, and villain Vladimir Makarov.

The Call of Duty movie is currently slated for a June 30, 2028 release date.
