Science SARU's anime reboot of the iconic 1995 film Ghost in the Shell is gearing up for a high-stakes summer debut.

Augmented reality meets gritty futurism in new series

Based on Masamune Shirow's seminal manga, the series promises to deliver a fresh take on the cyberpunk classic, focusing on the story of Motoko Kusanagi, a fully cyborg cop leading a special operations unit dedicated to battling cybercrime.

With direction from Moko-chan and a script penned by Toh Enjoe, the creative team behind Tatami Time Machine Blues and Godzilla Singular Point, respectively, this new adaptation promises to elevate the Ghost in the Shell franchise to new heights.

Set for a Japanese television premiere in July before rolling out globally on Amazon Prime Video, the exact release date and episode count remain to be confirmed.
