Ghostface returns: roger jackson voices rabbit in winnie-the-pooh sequel
Prepare for a chilling reunion. Roger Jackson, the iconic voice behind Ghostface in the Scream franchise since 1996, is lending his talents to the horror sequel, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 3. He will voice Rabbit, joining a cast that includes Josephine Blazier as MoMo and George Drogo as Winnie the Pooh.
Iconic villain joins twisted childhood universe
The announcement, reported by Dread Central, confirms a darker trajectory for the series. This installment aims for a heightened, more serious tone compared to its predecessors, which reimagined beloved characters as brutal killers. Returning cast members include Lewis Santer as Tigger, Eddy MacKenzie as Piglet, and Marcus Massey as Owl.
Production kicks off next month, with Scott Chambers, producer of the first two films, directing. The script is penned by Richard Stanley, known for his work on the 2019 Nicolas Cage body horror film, Color Out of Space. Rhys Frake-Waterfield, creator of the Twisted Childhood Universe (TCU) and director of the previous films, returns as producer.
The TCU project, a collaboration between Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios, has gained notoriety for its unsettling reimagining of classic children’s stories. The previous films established a gruesome vision of the Hundred Acre Wood, turning familiar figures into terrifying antagonists. Jackson’s involvement adds a significant layer of pedigree to the project. His vocal range extends far beyond horror, encompassing memorable characters like Mojo Jojo from The Powerpuff Girls and contributions to Robot Chicken and The Wild Thornberrys Movie.
While a release date remains elusive, the casting of Jackson signals a clear intention to escalate the series' horror elements. The previous films garnered attention for their graphic violence and subversive take on childhood nostalgia. The addition of a seasoned voice actor like Jackson suggests a further push into unsettling territory. The last film, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, was released in February 2023, generating considerable buzz and controversy.
The TCU is not just about shock value; it’s a calculated subversion of childhood innocence. The series taps into a primal fear of the familiar turned monstrous, a formula that, however disturbing, has proven remarkably effective. The combination of a well-known horror voice actor and a proven formula suggests that this sequel will not shy away from delivering on its promise of heightened terror.
The creators seem intent on maximizing the series' potential for visceral thrills. Expect a descent into a darkly twisted version of a world once defined by honey and friendship. The question isn't if it will be disturbing, but how far they are willing to push the boundaries.
