Jason momoa exits helldivers film, sony scrambles to find replacement

The news comes as a surprise, given Momoa's reported involvement since February this year. However, Sony's search for a replacement is now underway, with the studio facing a tight timeline to recast the lead role.

Helldivers, based on the popular video game franchise, had been in development since January 2025. The project had gained momentum with the announcement of Justin Lin as director in December, and Momoa's casting shortly after. Despite the setback, Sony remains committed to bringing the battle for Super Earth to the big screen.
