Sony shifts 'jumanji 3' release date to christmas

Sony Pictures has quietly altered the release date for the upcoming 'Jumanji 3' film, moving it from December 11th to December 25th, 2026.

The jumanji franchise continues to evolve

The latest installment will mark the fourth film in the series, following the successful 1995 original starring Robin Williams, and the more recent sequels 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' (2017) and 'Jumanji: The Next Level' (2019).

These Movies have seen the mythical board game adapt to modern times, transforming into a video game that lures in a new generation of players. In the films, a group of teenagers finds themselves trapped inside the game, taking on the roles of iconic characters as they navigate treacherous jungle environments.

With its new Christmas release date, 'Jumanji 3' will be going head-to-head with the highly anticipated 'Dune: Part 3' and 'Avengers: Doomsday' on December 18th. This could prove problematic for the family-friendly adventure film, potentially siphoning away viewers.

However, Sony may yet reconsider and shift the release date further back to avoid direct competition with these heavyweight blockbusters.
