Steven Spielberg has revealed he was involved in the development of Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic 'Interstellar' for a year before stepping aside, allowing Nolan to take the helm and craft what Spielberg believes is a better film.

Spielberg's brief involvement

He even brought on Jonathan Nolan, Christopher's brother, to pen the initial drafts of the screenplay. However, Spielberg felt the story wasn't quite fitting under his direction.

When Christopher Nolan took over, he was already deeply invested in exploring the themes of time and space. Combining his own ideas with his brother's work-in-progress, Nolan shaped the vision that would ultimately become the cinematic masterpiece.

'Interstellar,' released in 2014, went on to gross over $680 million worldwide and earned several Academy Award nominations, including a win for visual effects.

Matthew McConaughey starred alongside Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain in the film, which tells the gripping tale of a space mission to save humanity from impending doom.
