After Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande were Billie Eilish and The Weekend, with six nominations each, and Taylor Swift, with five mentions, since their acclaimed latest work, “Folklore”, was released after the deadline.

Among Latinos, J Balvin received four nominations, three for Best Latino Video and one for his collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas on “Ritmo (Bad Boys For Life)”.

By category, the candidates for Best Video Clip of the Year are, in addition to “Rain On Me”, “Everything I Wanted” by Billie Eilish; The Weekend’s “Blinding Lights”; Taylor Swift’s “The Man”; “Life Is Good” by Future ft. Drake, and “Godzilla” by Eminem ft. Juice WRLD.

Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Megan Thee Stallion, Post Malone, Da Baby and The Weeknd will compete to be named Artist of the Year. While Ariana Grande, absent in that section, will have double the option to win the award for the best collaboration for her songs with Justin Bieber, “Stuck with U”, and Lady Gaga, “Rain On Me”.

In the category of Best Latin Video J Balvin starts as a favorite with three mentions: one for his song “Amarillo” and two others for collaborating with Anuel AA, Daddy Yankee, Ozuna and Karol G in “China”, on the one hand, and for the other with Maluma in “Qué Pena”.

“Tusa” by Karol G and Nicki Mianj, “Yo Perreo Sola” by Bad Bunny, and “Mamacita” by Black Eyed Peas ft. Ozuna & J. Rey Soul complete the section. The Spanish Rosalía, who last year won Best Latin Choreography and Video for “Con Altura”, this year received a nomination in the technical categories for the edition of “A Palé”.

In the technical categories that normally recognize filmmakers, photographers and editors, this year there are three pop stars: Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, directors of their videos “xanny” and “The Man”; and rapper A $ AP Rocky, art director of “Babushka Boi.”

Instead, Billie Eilish’s brother and his regular producer, Finneas, makes his debut as a nominated artist in the category of Best Alternative Genre Video, where he will fight heavyweights like The 1975 and Lana del Rey.
