MTV Video Music Awards 2015: Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar’s Awards

Like every year at the end of August, MTV has filled the networks with comments about its most followed and commented awards show: The MTV Video Music Awards. The night of August 30 to 31, the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles was filled with familiar faces of American music in the 32nd edition of some awards that have given great moments in the history of television.

The awards show hadn’t had a regular host since 2012, though this year’s pick, Miley Cyrus, was worth a shot. With this decision, the organization has tried to bring together two of its most followed award ceremonies, the MTV VMAs and the EMAs, whose only difference is, in practice, that the latter are held in Europe. This was not the only similarity between this edition and any of the EMA’s. Both the performances and the stage made this edition’s gala stand out for its normality when compared to other years.

Taylor Swift beat Beyoncé in a night full of spectacle

Since the nominations were known, it could be guessed that the big winners of the night could be the rapper Kendrick Lamar or the already experienced winner of the VMA’s, Taylor Swift. The former led the list of nominations with 13 nominations, while Swift followed closely behind with 9.

Nicki Minaj with her performance in the purest style of ‘Pound The Alarm’, Taylor Swift with ‘Bad Blood’, Nick Jonas, who replaced his brothers with some dancers just taken from a Daft punk video clip, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Justin Bieber , Iggy Azalea or that of the controversial presenter, Miley Cyrus, were some of the performances with which the North American music video awards counted. This is the list of awardees.
